Noor El-Salam
Light and Hope for refugees in Lebanon.
— Education · Stability · Community · Lebanon
At Noor El-Salam our mission is to educate refugee and marginalized children in Lebanon who are unable to attend school within the country, and provide humanitarian relief to Lebanese communities suffering from lack of electricity, food, and clean water.
Lebanon hosts one of the world's largest refugee populations relative to its size. For Syrian refugee children in Beirut's poorest districts, access to Lebanese public schools is functionally unavailable — limited by policy, language, and capacity. Noor El-Salam fills that gap with Noor Academy: a structured, year-round school offering multilingual instruction to children aged 5–14, with a dedicated intake track for older children new to the classroom.

Education, stability, and community — together
Noor El-Salam's program model is rooted in a simple insight: education alone cannot overcome chronic instability. When a child's family lacks food, income, or shelter, school attendance collapses. Our three-pillar model addresses all three layers simultaneously — ensuring that enrollment in the Academy is sustainable, not fragile.
🎓
Education as the anchor
Noor Academy provides a full structured program for children who would otherwise have no schooling. A dedicated track for older learners new to formal education ensures no child is turned away due to age or prior gaps in schooling. Our scholarships empower students to pursue their academic ambitions and vocational goals.
🛡️
Stability through consistent care
Year-round operation, reliable supply provision, and family emergency stipends create a protective environment. 130 families have received direct support — keeping children in school through periods of household challenges. Our Noor Academy staff connects with families to comprehend a child’s home environment.
🌱
Community as the multiplier
The Academy serves all children regardless of religious affiliation or nationality. Our supportive staff relationships with student families contributes to building a community. Additionally, emergency aid — food boxes, hygiene supplies, and direct living expense grants — extends our reach to enrolled students' families and the broader community.
