How We Are Helping

We fund and manage the operations of a school for Syrian refugee children in Lebanon.  Our first school in 2022 was located in Lebanon’s northern region near the Syrian border where there are thousands of Syrians living in tent compounds scattered across the countryside. Logistic and management issues there led to the selection of a new school location in the capital city of Beirut.

In September 2023, we opened the doors of Noor El Salam Academy to 65 Syrian refugee children living in the poorest area of Beirut.  Our lead teacher is an experienced educator with a heart to give back to those in need.  She recruited two other teachers and a teacher’s aide to work alongside her.  In addition to teaching her own classes, she coordinates the curriculum and daily schedule five days a week, as well as interacting with the parents.  Our financial manager is an unrelated, personally known volunteer who is also located in Beirut. 

Your support is vital for the education of these children who have no other school options available to them.    A donation of $1000 covers the expenses of the school operations for one month, $100 covers the cost for the teacher’s aide, and $55 covers the cost of books for one student.  We would like to expand the Academy and double the size, and believe it is fiscally within the realm of possibility this year.  Please consider donating to help us expand the school and provide education to 65 more children.
